People's Weekly World Newspaper Online - ‘Good Night, and Good Luck’ — a must see

A couple of months ago, when I first found out this film was coming to theaters, I was amazed that it ever got made. The very thought of how this will probably cause near epileptic spasms among the Right adds an extra dimension of anticipation for me. According to this review, only 20 percent of test audiences knew who Ed Murrow was. To me, that is horrifying. It certainly is an indication of why someone like Bush and his gang of thieves managed to roll into to absolute power the way they have. When a society lacks historical memory, they can be easily manipulated.

I will expect Ann Coulter to scream the loudest over "the Left demonizing poor Joe McCarthy once again." She has tried to vindicate McCarthy's extra-Constitutional witch hunt tactics by proclaiming that he was right about the commies.

Were there Communists in the US government? You bet. Were there any Soviet spies? That is certainly a fact as well. Never mentioned are the US spies working in the Soviet government. Morris Childs, one time editor of the Daily Worker (the CPUSA newspaper) used his position and close contact with top Soviet officials to spy for the US until at least 1980.

I find the link above most amusing. Not only does the anti-Communist rant provided by the "great" American Jesse Helm, that creaky old bastard and rascist pig shed light onto the reasons the Right opposed the Martin Luther King holiday but also the fact that the page is hosted by Stormfront. So you see how hypocritical it all is. NAZIS good, Commies bad.

Let me make one thing real clear. There were hard core Stalinists who spied and there were the average Communists who just wanted a better America. An America with civil rights for all, the end of Capitalist oppression and the cessation of America's Imperialist tendencies. Most CPUSA members were honorable, heroic people. Many went off to Spain to fight Fascism long before the US did. After serving in the Abraham Lincoln Brigade in Spain, so many of these despicable Reds turned around and joined the US military to fight during WWII. What thanks did they get? Persecution after the war by bloated, loudmouthed cowards--forerunners of the Limbaughs, the Coulters and the O'Reillys of today.

This comment ignores the truth, and dishonours the many communists who stood against revisionism and for the revolutionary change as proclaimed by Marx, Lenin AND Stalin

I'm not quite sure what truth is being ignored by my statement our how it dishonors those "...many communists who stood against revisionism and for the revolutionary change as proclaimed by Marx, Lenin AND Stalin." It seems to me that my original statement is saying the same thing. As for Stain, his montrous brutality negates whatever good may have become of the Soviet system and it could be said that his bureaucratic system was the downfall of the Soviet Union. Hitler was responsible for some good things but should we then not abhor the NAZI ruination of Germany? As far as I'm concerned, Stalinism has no place in Marxism. I believe Marx would have been horrified at what was done in his name.
