What Kincaid Won't Tell You About Obama's 'Mentor'

I post this because it is important to counter the virus-like spread of Cliff Kincaid's anti-Obama propaganda. Cliff Kincaid's Aug. 15 Accuracy in Media column proclaims that the Barack Obama campaign's debunking of Jerome Corsi's Obama-bashing book "acknowledges on ... that the mysterious “Frank” in Obama’s 1995 book, Dreams From My Father, is in fact the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) member Frank Marshall Davis," insisting that the admission "can only add to growing public concern about Obama’s relationship with a Communist pawn of Moscow who was the subject of security investigations by the FBI and various congressional committees which examined Soviet activities in the U.S." In an Aug. 17 column , Kincaid complains that the Obama campaign's debunking "doesn’t identify Davis as a hard-core communist and it dishonestly edits an article about Davis to eliminate references to his admitted involvement in CPUSA activities and make t...

So It Has Begun...

I feel like crap. I've been sick with some foul strain of the plague or something for two weeks now. I can't seem to shake it off. I'm nauseous all of the time and get the occasional case of gagging. There doesn't seem to be a reason for the dry heaves but the ravings of some ding-dong bloggers set off a spasm. It seems the first salvo across Barack Obama's bow has been fired by the terrified wing-nuts on the Right. They must be poopin' their britches watching a black man possibly become president of the USA. Oh yeah, dear god, he's got one of those A-rab soundin' names too! The wing-nut's cut and past frenzy seems to mostly consist of bits of a wonderful piece of red baiting by Cliff Kincaid , one of the great minds at Accuracy In Media .  Accuracy In Media claims to exist to publish the truth about "liberal biased reporting in the media." They do this by countering with a cock-eyed Conservative slant. So much for accuracy, I guess. Well...

Warren Beatty's "Reds" Finally On DVD

I discovered today that a film I have been waiting a long time for on DVD has finally appeared as a 2 disc 25th anniversary edition. Warren Beatty's "Reds" has been a favorite of mine since I first saw it many years ago. It is incredibly priced around $13 or $14 too! Amazon.com essential video Warren Beatty's lengthy 1981 drama about American Communist John Reed and his relationships with both the Russian Revolution and a writer named Louise Bryant (Diane Keaton) is a compelling piece of little-known history told in a uniquely personal way. Beatty plays Reed as he did the title gangster in Bugsy and Senator in Bulworth, as a visionary likely to die before anyone fully recognizes the progressiveness of the vision, including those who are supposed to be on the same page. Jack Nicholson has an interesting part as fellow intellectual Eugene O'Neill, and the late author Jerzy Kosinski--himself a refugee from then-Soviet-controlled Poland--makes a strong impression as R...

Old News For A New Year

I don’t know how I missed this back in November but, apparently, the Washington DC City Paper did an “exposé” of the clandestine meetings of the Frederick Douglas Club of the CPUSA at the NEA cafeteria. I haven’t been able to read the entire article but the short excerpts are hilarious. I guess the great patriot Bob Novak picked up on it and made reference to the meetings as an obvious attempt to red bait the NEA. According to the NEA , their cafeteria is open to the public and is not screened. Since the right of free assembly is one of those pesky constitutional rights, Novak found it all rather nefarious. As I tracked the flow of the story around the Internet, the news seemed to appear on mostly wingnut and homes school blogs. The wingnuts found it all proof that the evil commies were secretly still planning to interrupt their lifestyle of greed and selfishness. You know, those foul concepts like health care for all, a living wage and various other un-American activities. Th...
