Russian animator Konstantin Bronzit, the director of the brilliant hand-drawn 10-minute cartoon 'Lavatory-Lovestory' is nominated for an Oscar Award for the Best Animated Short Film. I used to correspond with Konstantin back in the 1980’s while he was still working for USSR animation studios. I’m glad to see that he is a director at Melnitsa Studios in St. Petersburg now.

Watch more cool animation and creative cartoons at aniBoom \ I've been playing with an animation software called "Creatoon." The program simulates cut-out style animation. It has some odd quirks but is really simple (which I like very much). This test was done to work out some movement problems I was having. Sometimes elements of characters would drift in directions I didn't intend. I think I've figured out that headache. This program is now free to download at Creatoon since it is no longer being developed. Many professional television programs around the world were produced using this software. It would be nice if the company would release the code so it could be further developed. A way to lip sync would be great. Sound files can be imported for use while animating but the sound can only be " scrubbed ."

1916 - 2008 Bill Melendez, best known for bringing the Peanuts characters to life with such classics as "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," died Tuesday at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica. He was 91.

Seoul Train I am of the opinion that, just as law enforcement people should be held to a higher standard, so should governments claiming to be Communist. North Korea is a vile excuse for a people's state. This is not Socialism, Marxism or Communism. It is a disgusting dictatorship ruled by a megalomaniac who deserves to be strung up from the nearest tree. Let the suffering citizens of North Korea beat this pig until the flesh falls from his bones. If you have an opportunity to see the film "Seoul Train" do so. If not, I suggest joining the new independent film club, " Ironweed Flms ." It will be one of the DVD's offered in the coming months. I see that Frederic Back's "The Man Who Planted Trees" is to be offered soon also. This is a must have. I think it's one of the most beautiful animated films ever made.
