At the Cleveland house where Superman was born in the mind of Jerry Siegel, "The Book Of Lies" author Brad Meltzer wants watchers to find their inner Supermen and help preserve the structure for posterity. More information can be found at Ordinary People Change The World.

Brilliant Poster By Carlos Latuff

Carlos Latuff, the widely admired cartoonist from Brazil, created this stunning poster today. It is sure to stir howls of anti-Semitism from Zionist thugs everywhere and  a lot of wailing about "Israel having the right to defend itself. Ignore that noise and support the right of Palestinians not to be slaughtered by an overwhelmingly superior military force. A word from Carlos: I'd like to beg all viewers to spread this image anywhere, as a way to expose Israeli war crimes against Palestinians. Use it on t-shirts, posters, banners. Reproduce it in zines, papers, magazines, and make it visible everywhere. Here is the high-resolution version for printing purposes: [link] Thank you in the name of every suffering Palestinian. Politics 'Stifling $100 laptop'

By Jonathan Fildes Science and technology reporter, BBC News   A lack of "big thinking" by politicians has stifled a scheme to distribute laptops to children in the developing world, a spokesman has said.     Walter Bender of One Laptop per Child (OLPC) said politicians were unwilling to commit because "change equals risk".   But, he said, there needed to be a "dramatic change" because education in many countries was "failing" children.   In an interview with the BBC, Nigeria's education minister questioned the need for laptops in poorly equipped schools.   Dr Igwe Aja-Nwachuku said:   "What is the essence of introducing One Laptop per Child when they don't have seats to sit down and learn; when they don't have uniforms to go to school in, where they don't have facilities?"   "We are more interested in laying a very solid foundation for quality education which will be efficient, effective, accessib...

Mutts: The Gift Of Nothing

My favorite newspaper comic strip is Mutts . I love the "old time" style Patrick McDonnell uses. He also authored a great book about George Herriman, the cartoonist who scratched out the great Krazy Kat in immortal ink. Anywho, "The Gift Of Nothing" started as an idea last year, as I recall, and this year McDonnell has released a cute, little book illustrating the story. I put this one up there with Shel Silverstein s' "The Giving Tree". Now, both of those are worth giving this holiday.

Holiday Giving Card

I tried this last year and it didn't seem to make much of a splash. I guess it is just easier for some people to lob purchased junk at a loved one than to actually do a helpful deed. I decided to try again. Please feel free to spread the pdf. around if you like the idea. The pdf. can be downloaded from my site David Baldinger's Cartoons & Stuff .
