REUTERS Yefimov 'survived not because of Stalin's generosity of soul, but because his talents as a cartoonist' Wed Oct 1, 4:38 PM ET MOSCOW - Celebrated political cartoonist Boris Yefimov, who drew brutally satirical images of the Soviet Union's foes in the service of Josef Stalin, died Wednesday. He was 108. Yefimov's death was given wide coverage on Russian state television. No cause was given. His cartoons spanned virtually the entire history of the communist state, from shortly after the 1917 revolution to the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. Among his most memorable drawings was one showing a wretched-looking Hitler, who is said to have ordered Yefimov shot if the Nazis captured Moscow in World War II. From My Cartoons Representative Dennis Kucinich from Ohio, USA, candidate for US President in the Democratic Party, has been consistently barred from participating in the corporate media controlled televised presidential debates. Corporate America seems intent of silencing the only Democratic candidate who opposes the Iraq War, the Bush doctrine of preemptive war and has authored a motion to impeach Vice-President Cheney. Recently MSNBC News excluded former Sen. Mike Gravel from a "debate." [BREAKING NEWS]: Student shot with Taser by UCPD officers Incident occured around 11:30 p.m. in the Powell Library CLICC computer lab From The Daily Bruin UCPD officers shot a student several times with a Taser inside the Powell Library CLICC computer lab late Tuesday night before taking him into custody. No university police officers were available to comment further about the incident as of 3 a.m. Wednesday, and no Community Service Officers who were on duty at the time could be reached.
